Hoops Classic Tournament Rules

PRE-GAME

  • Teams and fans should be at the gym and ready to play 20 minutes before their game time.  Games will run ahead if possible.

  • Game time is forfeit time.

  • You must provide your own warm-up balls.

  • The team designated as HOME on the official score sheet must provide a scorekeeper for each game. A clock operator will be provided for all games.

  • Tournament site directors will settle all disputes. If a player or coach is ejected from a game, they will no longer be able to participate in any future tournament games.

GAMEPLAY

National Federation High School Rules will apply with a few exceptions:

  • Games will consist of two 15-minute running clock halves. The clock will stop during the last minute of both the 1st half and at the end of the game.

  • We will use a women’s size ball for all divisions. (28.5)

  • 3 - 30-second timeouts will be allowed per game.  One additional timeout will be allowed if an overtime period occurs.

  • Overtime will last 2 minutes during which regular high school rules will apply. Sudden death will occur after the first overtime, starting with a jump ball. The first point wins.

  • Bonus foul shots will begin on the 7th team foul per half. 2 shots after the 10th foul.

  • A team cannot full-court press once they have a lead of 12 points or more. No pressing will be allowed in the 4th-grade boys or girls division.

RULES SPECIFIC TO CERTAIN AGE GROUPS

  • No full-court pressing is allowed in the 4th-grade (boys and girls) divisions or the 5th-grade girl's division until the last minute of the game if the score is within 8 points.

  • All teams will shoot from the regular free-throw line.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • It is a three-game guarantee format, but we do not have control over the actions of other teams. In the unlikely event a team doesn’t show up to play one of their scheduled games, the opposing team is granted a forfeit win, which counts as one of the three games guaranteed.  It is our intent that everyone will participate in their scheduled games.

  • Two coaches per team will be allowed to enter for free. We do not require player passes.
